ISO 9001 third edition, the final version of ISO 9001:2000, was published on December 15, 2000. This new revision of the standard replaces the old editions ISO 9001:1994, ISO 9002:1994 and ISO 9003:1994. Organizations with a certified or registered ISO 9000 quality system must upgrade to ISO 9001:2000. 

This book is an interpretation and implementation guide of 38 identified new requirements of ISO 9001:2000. It addresses the new requirements of the standard and the necessary steps to upgrade from a quality system ISO 9000:1994 (ISO 9001:1994, ISO 9002:1994 or ISO 9003:1994) to a quality management system ISO 9001:2000.
